Abstract

Breakfast is an eating and drinking activity carried out between waking up in the morning and 9 am to fulfill some of the daily nutritional needs (15-30% of nutritional needs) in order to create a healthy, active, intelligent and productive life. Getting into the habit of eating breakfast will affect concentration during lessons so that it can affect learning achievement. According to the results of the 2018 Basic Health Research (Riskesdas) report, it shows that the prevalence of undernutrition status among 19 year olds is 20.7% and overnutrition status is 15.5%. The prevalence of nutritional status aged 20-24 years is undernutrition status is 15.8% and overnutrition status is 20.5%. If someone always makes it a habit to eat breakfast, it will improve the quality of their nutrition so that it can contribute to their daily nutritional intake and needs. This type of research is descriptive. The sample in this study was 70 level 1 and 2 nutrition students at the Tasikmalaya Ministry of Health Polytechnic. The research sample was determined using a non-probability sampling method. Data collection was carried out through questionnaires, interviews, and measurements of weight, height and LILA. The research results showed that 57.1% had breakfast, and 42.9% did not have breakfast. The frequency of breakfast ≥ 3 times/week in the good category is 74%, and the frequency of breakfast < 3 times/week in the not good category is 26%. Nutritional status is based on BMI/U with the very thin category 7.1%, the thin category 14.3%, the normal category 57.2%, the fat category 5.7%, and the obesity category 15.7%. Upper arm circumference (LILA) for women of childbearing age in the normal category is 68.4%, and in the KEK category is 31.6%. The cumulative achievement index (GPA) in the satisfactory category is 1.4%, the very satisfactory category is 27.2%, and the cum laude category is 71.4%. It is recommended that students eat breakfast regularly every day so that the body and mind get used to breakfast and pay attention to nutritional status by consuming varied and nutritionally balanced foods.
