Abstract

Febris Seizures are seizures in infants and children, usually occurring between the ages of 3 months and 5 years, associated with fever but without proven intracranial infection or other causes. Fever is a condition where the body temperature is above normal temperature, namely body temperature above 38º Celsius. In general, there are various types of treatments for fever, including using warm water compresses, using medicines that contain chemicals and traditional medicines (herbal medicines). Traditional medicines used to treat fever in children function as lowering body temperature, including using castor leaves (external medicine), ginger (oral / drinking medicine), shallots (external medicine) and others. Shallots contain glutamic acid which is a natural essence (natural flavor enhancer), there are also propyl disulfide and propyl metal disulfide compounds which easily evaporate. If used in the right dosage, shallots can be used to reduce body temperature, especially in children aged 1-6 years who experience an increase in body temperature. Therefore, the author confirmed the aim of this research to identify the effectiveness of shallot compress in reducing the body temperature of children with hyperthermia problems in children diagnosed with febrile seizures. The author carried out research for 3 days on patients diagnosed with febrile seizures who experienced hyperthermia. The procedure for giving an onion compress is to pound the shallots, then mix it with eucalyptus and apply it to the folds of the body and the entire surface of the body for 15 minutes. The results of this study showed that there was a decrease in body temperature by an average of 1OC after being given the shallot compress. In patient 1 there was a decrease of 1OC on the first day, 0.5OC on the 2nd day and 1.2OC on the 3rd day. Patient 2 experienced a decrease of 1OC on the first day, 1OC on the 2nd day and 1.2OC on the 3rd day. Based on research results, red onion compress is effective in reducing the body temperature of children with hyperthermia. The author suggests that shallots can be used as an intervention for increased body temperature (hyperthermia). For further research, the author hopes that there will be research to eliminate the smell of onions when giving onion compresses. Keywords: febrile seizures, hypertemia red onion compress
