Abstract

Acute Gastroenteritis (GEA) is a disease of the digestive tract that must be treated regularly, one of which is the use of antibiotics.. Since the disease has been recorded to have increased at the Regional General Hospital (RSUD) dr. Soekardjo from year to year, it is necessary to treat or recover more quickly, precisely, and accurately, one of which is the use of antibiotics. This study aims to describe the characteristics and use of antibiotics given to Acute Gastroenteritis (GEA) patients in the Inpatient Installation. Descriptive quantitative research method by collecting secondary data retrospectively from medical records of inpatients in 2021. The population is all patients with Acute gastroenteritis admitted to an inpatient installation with a purposive sampling method that includes sex, age, class of antibiotics, name of antibiotics, and length of stay. The sample used was 230. The results showed that patient characteristics based on gender were 53% male and 47% female, 83% based on toddler age, 10% children, and 7% adolescents. Use of antibiotics based on 91.3% cephalosporin antibiotics, 8.3% nitroimidazole, and 0.4% penicillin, metronidazole 5.2%, ceftriaxone and metronidazole 3.9%, ampicillin 0.4% .The average length of stay is one week
