Abstract

Lip balm is a moisturizer that serves to moisturize the lips, so they don't dry out. Aloe vera has the potential to be used as a lip balm because it contains flavonoids that help moisturize the skin of the lips. Rice bran oil contains gamma oryzanol which can lighten the skin. The purpose of this study was to formulate lip balm preparations using a combination of aloe vera extract with rice bran oil. Aloe vera extract and rice bran oil can be purchased and accompanied by a certificate of analysis (COA). The formulation was made with four different concentrations, namely (F1); aloe vera extract 10% (F2); aloe vera extract 5% and rice bran oil 5% (F3); aloe vera extract 10% and rice bran oil 10% (F4); aloe vera extract 15% and rice bran oil 15%). The results showed that the second formulation, 70% was the most preferred in terms of texture. Physical test results showed that all preparations had good characteristics. Keywords: lip balm, aloe vera, formulation, rice bran oil.
