Abstract
Congestive heart failure is the inability of the heart to pump blood to meet the tissue needs for oxygen with insufficient blood volume resulting in a decrease in metabolism, characterized by symptoms of shortness of breath, coughing, fatigue and anxiety. Throughout 2020 at RSUD dr. Soekardjo Tasikmalaya there are 10 major inpatient diseases being treated, namely congestive heart failure which occupies the fourth order with 458 cases. Management of congestive heart failure can be done by non-pharmacological therapy that can be done by nurses, one of the nursing actions that can be done is progressive muscle relaxation therapy. Progressive muscle relaxation (PMR) is a stretching and relaxation exercise that includes large muscle groups in the human body from the hands to the feet. The purpose of this study was to describe the application of progressive muscle relaxation therapy to oxygen saturation values in Congestive Heart Failure (CHF) patients at the Regional General Hospital dr. Soekardjo, City of Tasikmalaya. This study used a qualitative design with a case study approach with 2 respondents with a medical diagnosis of Congestive Heart Failure (CHF). Implementation of the intervention was given for 3 consecutive days to both respondents once a day, every day SpO2 measurements were taken before and after being given progressive muscle relaxation therapy. Getting the results of the oxygen saturation values in both respondents with the initial SpO2 at Ny.S 91% and the end 94% while in Ny.E SpO2 at the beginning 95% and the end 98% it can be seen from the results that there is an increase, it can be concluded that this study can describe how the application of progressive muscle relaxation therapy is effective in increasing oxygen saturation values in patients with congestive heart failure (CHF) and it is hoped that health workers can apply progressive muscle relaxation therapy in health services as non-pharmacological therapy.
